Constar International has entered into a patent and technology support licence agreement with the Pact Group of companies in Australia and New Zealand, a producer of rigid plastic packaging for food, beverage, pharmaceutical and industrial markets.
The licence covers products that incorporate Constar’s line of oxygen scavenger materials marketed under the Oxbar, MonOxbar and DiamondClear trademarks, as well as technology support, including the development of novel containers designed with Constar’s CONSTruct advanced predictive engineering software.
PET packaging
The Pact Group, or any of its subsidiaries, will be able to supply its customers in Australia and New Zealand with strong, lightweight, and attractive PET bottles that have outstanding oxygen-scavenger protection for retention of flavour, aroma, colour, and nutritional values, enabling contents to look and taste fresher for longer.
Initial applications will be for packaging sauce, wine and fruit juices.
Technological advances
Constar licences its Oxbar patents to leading converters and brand owners worldwide.
PET bottles made under licences to the Oxbar patents protect oxygen-sensitive products, including beer, wine, fruit-based beverages, and foods.
These technologies offer advantages over traditional metal and glass packaging and provide enhanced shelf life for oxygen-sensitive products.
In addition, PET containers incorporating these technologies may contribute to reducing the carbon footprint for brand owners, and are recyclable in conventional PET reclamation systems.
