The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) is pleased to advise that it is taking its highly-successful half-day training courses to New Zealand.
The first course will be "Introduction to Plastics" which will be held on Tuesday the 7th of April at the Packaging Council of New Zealand’s offices in East Tamaki, Manukau.
Those most likely to benefit from the Introduction to Plastics course are employees from plastics manufacturers, plastics sales people, plastics wholesalers and plastics end users from technical staff to line personnel.
This half-day training course will be clear and comprehensive, it will present a precise, non-mathematical introduction to plastics, their raw materials, syntheses, and applications, discussing the manufacture and properties of plastics as a function of the molecular properties of polymers used in the plastics industry.
The course will consist of the properties of the main classes of materials, on the principles of such processes as injection moulding, extrusion, blow moulding and thermoforming polymers. No previous experience will be assumed in the subject matter of the course.
The course presenter, Pierre Pienaar, FAIP, will discuss the two main families of plastics, thermosets and thermoplastics and their methods of moulding, i.e. the various methods of blow moulding as well as the various methods of injection moulding.
Pienaar will conclude with plastic applications in the industry, associated problems, choosing the correct plastic for the application and which aspects of plastics to avoid.
