AIP to run joint event with NZIFST

The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) is pleased to advise that it will be running a joint event with the New Zealand Institute of Food Science and Technology on Tuesday the 29th of September in Auckland.

The theme for the technical evening will be ‘Packaging Trends and where are we heading’ and the speakers will be Alistair Sayers, MAIP, Packaging Manager, Frucor Beverages and Rick Poynter, AAIP Poynter Agencies Ltd.

"We'll explore interesting packaging innovations and trends in the beverage market," says Alistair Sayers (MAIP) - Packaging Manager, Frucor Beverages Ltd.

"This will be a visual presentation looking at formative aspects of beverage packaging in an Australasian sense. From bottle designs, supermarket interaction to beverage can and corrugated cartons.

Rick Pointer (AAIP) - Poynter Agencies Ltd. Rick will present on Biodegradable & Compostable Plastics from the perspective of a 'Front of Life — Use — End of Life' sequence.

The presentation addresses issues such as 'Food vs Fuel, GM crops and renewable vs fossil base'.

Differences that exist in end of life disposal options and the question, Is the reality of recycling always a closing of the loop?

The litter issue, is it a material or social one? What is known about the environmental effects of undegraded and fragmented plastic debris in the terrestrial and marine environments?

It promises to be interesting and informative!
