Amcor initiative makes finals

Working with community organisations to increase awareness and educate people on environmental issues has made Amcor a finalist in the Community Partnership Action Award, sponsored by 3M.

Amcor established its community engagement program, teamcor, in 2005 with the aim of connecting its employees with local communities and building key stakeholder relationships by supporting a range of community activities in Australia and New Zealand.

The program revolves around Amcor’s core values of teamwork, community and environmental responsibility, and has resulted in numerous partnerships with community organisations including a three-year partnership with the Education Foundation and the establishment of the ‘ruMAD?’ (aRe yoU Making A Difference?) program throughout Australia.

Over 500 schools around Australia have already participated in the program that offers students a range of active learning opportunities, allowing them to explore solutions to a range of community and environmental issues that have real public implications.

Students are responsible for identifying problems and developing appropriate community driven solutions.

Not only do students gain an understanding of their environmental responsibilities but the importance of cooperation, decision making and leadership.
