Accuweigh’s Budpak branch recently commissioned a carton palletiser fitted with a special gripper for simultaneously palletising both cartons and drums, of vegetable oils at Cargill’s processing plant in Newcastle.
Two pick-up conveyors feed the robot palletiser; one line carrying cartons and the other drums. The palletiser automatically alters the special gripper to pick up either a drum or a carton, depending on which type of container arrives at the pickup points first.
The robot palletiser also automatically inserts slip sheets between layers of carton and drums as required. Cartons are palletised onto one side while drums are palletised on the other side of the robot palletiser.
When either pallet is fully loaded, the robot palletiser continues palletising the alternate container type while the completed pallet is automatically removed and replaced with an empty pallet.
The palletiser then automatically resumes simultaneous palletising of both container types.
The Fuji-Ace EC-201 robot palletiser has a control panel incorporating a multi-function user-friendly touch screen display, hand held ‘teaching box’ for ease of programming, energy conserving servo motors, and heavy duty support base.
