Diageo's community spirit

Diageo has been made a finalist in the Community Partnership Award, sponsored by 3M, for their involvement in numerous community events and support of environmental awareness campaigns.

The company’s ongoing relationship with Clean Up Australia is a clear indication of its ongoing commitment to raising community awareness of environmental issues.

On Business Clean Up Australia Day this year, Diageo teams across the country cleaned up areas surrounding their sites and conducted an analysis on the litter found.

The results, as well as a video that was made on the day, were used to inform and educate employees.

The 31 members of the Huntingwood, New South Wales, team collected 285kg of waste, 76kg (27%) of which was recyclable.

After analysis, it was revealed that 16% of the total waste collected could have been recovered through container deposit legislation.

Diageo also has a formal partnership with the Total Environment Centre’s Green Capital program, which actively promotes environmental awareness in the community.
