Flexible packaging equipment at K 2007

Printing, extrusion and converting equipment manufacturer Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H), represented in Australia by Agfa Graphics, will showcase its three-layer VAREX blown film extrusion line and POLYREX film sealing machine at the K 2007 exhibition on October 24 to 31 in Germany.

Visitors to the exhibition will also be able to view W&H equipment including the FILMEX cast film line and a range of flexographic printing presses at in-house expos running at W&H's Technology Centre in Lengerich.

W&H believes that high output and efficiency, flexibility and high quality are the keys to business success in the plastics packaging industry.

As a result, the major focus of its R&D work is on increasing production output, reducing machine set-up times, and minimising waste and raw material consumption, the results of which will be on display at both K 2007 and the in-house expo.

In-house expos

The in-house expos will be held on 25 to 26 October and 29 to 30 October, offering visitors an opportunity to see a range of equipment in production.

The expos will feature the VAREX blown film lines, a FILMEX cast film line, three flexographic printing presses, one gravure press, and a film sealing machine.

W&H products

VAREX blown film extrusion:

The VAREX blown film extrusion line has a working width of 1600mm and is equipped with the MAXICONE C die (compact design and reduced melt volumes).

It can handle extreme layer ratios, enhances film quality, and allows for short change-over times and minimised scrap rates.

The line will also feature the MULTICOOL D double deck air ring.

To achieve high production outputs, the film bubble requires constant and efficient cooling and W&H's air ring achieves this with consistently high quality.

POLYREX BV film sealing machine:

Used for producing patch reinforced punched hand-grip carriers, W&H’s film sealing machine offers flexibility in bag sizes and high output.
