Multiple Evolution Awards winner Kimberly-Clark Australia received the top vote in the 2008 category of Most Innovative Solution in Packaging Waste Management.
Regional Packaging Manager South Asia, Frank Bova, who accepted the award on behalf of the company, says the win definitely helps Kimberly-Clark reinforce all the great work the company is doing for the National Packaging Covenant.
“We’ve really upped our commitment to packaging training and communication within the company and also externally,” he says.
“It’s a heightened subject in our business, right from our senior management all the way through.”
According to Bova, Kimberly-Clark Australia’s business has reaped the benefits of being an Evolution Awards winner.
“The profile and promotion we receive from winning these awards really helps in our ultimate endeavour of publicising the goals and objectives of the Covenant and the responsibilities that we have as corporate citizens,” he maintains.
Bova’s advice to companies beginning the packaging waste management journey is to invest in packaging people and training.
“Companies that take that approach actually get a packaging department for free, so not only do you add value to the marketing of your products but you will also deliver cost savings efficiency benefits and lots of flow on teamwork benefits as well.”
“Kimberly-Clark will be continuing its optimisation program,” Bova says of the company’s next step. “Obviously we’ve picked all the low and mid hanging fruit and we’re doing the harder stuff, and that’ll still continue.
"We’ll never stop optimising. Packaging technology changes daily and we’ll be there to take advantage of any opportunities.”
