As a result of its packaging initiatives, LG has reduced the cost of the transportation by reducing its need to hire wooden pallets.

“We designed recyclable cardboard pallets which we now use instead of wooden pallet during transportation,” LG Australia executive Chris Hong tells Packaging Magazine.

Hong says LG is looking now forward to developing its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program further.

“LG was very excited about winning the 2007 Household Goods Packaging Action award and looks forward to developing more environmental friendly packaging,” he says.

“In addition, winning this award enables consumers and industry peers to recognise LG’s CSR initiatives."

"In 2008 LG will continue to maintaining the previous target of operating with non- retardant packaging and complying with environmental friendly packaging."

“LG is implementing packaging volume/size initiatives to reduce the packaging cost benefit ratio and to reduce Co2 during transportation,” Hong says.

“Industry award programs lsuch as the Evolution Awards make manufacturers aware of the importance of our environment, and provide an avenue for a commitment to the industry,” he adds.

“It’s a great opportunity to share ideas and achievements with regard to what can be done to improve the packaging process.”
