Detmold Flexibles has further increased its technical and innovative capabilities in order to provide functional packaging solutions to the Australian and New Zealand flexible packaging markets.
The additions are part of a carefully planned growth strategy for the company, which include major investments in new printing and lamination technologies.
Detmold’s many existing customers will see more of the technical team in the near future, and will benefit greatly from the added development capabilities that they bring to the company.
The Detmold Flexibles technical team is headed by Andrew Payne BASc Chem (Technical Development Manager) who has spent 19 years in the plastics and packaging industries.
Andrew has worked in technical and commercial roles with ICI/Orica and more recently Aperio.
He has experience in the design of polyethylene resins and film structures to suit specific applications in the FMCG market, as well as flexographic and gravure printing.
Starting on June the 16th Paul Dillon BAApp Sc (Product Development Manager) will be joining the technical team bringing an extensive background in ink, adhesive and coating technologies gained through 19 years with Coates, DIC and Rohm & Haas, where he had exposure to a diverse range of customers technical requirements. His knowledge base will compliment the expansion plans of the business perfectly.
Cameron Wilson, the long time driving force behind the successful Scanapak pre-press and plate making business, will be assisting Detmold Flexibles as a consultant.
His 17 years accumulated knowledge of pre-press technology and colour management for offset, flexographic and gravure print will allow him to streamline and optmise the pre-press process at Detmold in ways not previously considered.
Another recent addition to the Southern Region business development team is Paul Haggett, who has 20 years of sales experience in the flexible packaging and pre-press technology fields, including commercial/technical roles with ABM Plastics and more recently The Kirk Group.
Haggett's experience has covered flexographic, gravure and lithographic printing, as well as the production of plates and cylinders to suit each of these processes.
Recently appointed CEO John Morriss believes that strengthening the technical team will give added confidence and support to the Detmold Flexibles sales force.
"The unique breadth of experience displayed by the team already allows it to provide innovative solutions," he says.
"The latest additions to the business now position us to be an even more nimble and technically adept player in the flexible packaging market.”
Detmold’s customers will also be excited to see the potential for new developments in packaging structures which will be possible with the new technical team, as well as improvements to existing products and factory efficiencies that will follow.
