Plantic is pleased to announce a formal collaboration with German packaging supplier Kesko GmbH. This follows the commissioning and opening of Plantic’s manufacturing facility in Jena, East Germany.

The neww facility is already supplying a range of customers in Europe, including a leading German food manufacturer.

Kesko is a specialist packaging business situated in Stolberg near Aachen. Founded in 2004, one of its key areas of focus is blister packaging, a primary material in the distribution of pharmaceuticals.

Through its reputation for quality, reliability and flexibility, Kesko has successfully expanded its position in the packaging market.

A key component of Plantic’s marketing strategy has been to convince producers of higher value, luxury products of the importance of introducing biodegradability to their packaging.

The use of Plantic® biodegradable packaging gives their customers the comfort that the packaging used in such products has a low environmental impact.

Plantic® biodegradable packaging, which uses less than 50% of the energy, and up to 70% less green house gas emissions, of traditional plastic.

With this in mind, Plantic’s German subsidiary, Plantic Technologies (Germany) GmbH, will collaborate with local packaging supplier Kesko GmbH.

Kesko supplies a range of packaging products to the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries and will play an active role in promoting the functional and environmental qualities of Plantic’s sheet and resin material.

Plantic will supply biodegradable thermoformed sheet for BIOBlister and all BIO oriented packaging to Kesko.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Plantic, which has earned an outstanding reputation in the field of biodegradable plastic," says Kesko Managing Director Holger Rietfort.

"We have been impressed both by Plantic’s functional and environmental capabilities, and by the imaginative strategies which the Plantic team has devised to promote the material to a broader market.”

Norbert-Rainer Schmidt, General Manager of Plantic Germany, is also looking forward to this cooperation.

“Kesko is the perfect partner for establishing a significant presence in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry," he says.

"Kesko enjoys an excellent reputation for quality and reliability and we are very pleased that they have chosen our technology to help us attack this important area of the market.”
