The Interpack trade fair in 2008 will be the forum at which Plantic Technologies Limited will introduce its new high performance sheet grade.
The exhibition will take place at the Düsseldorf Fairgrounds, 24-30 April 2008 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Samples of the high performance sheet will be on display at Plantic’s Interpack exhibit, located in Hall 7a C15 & D14.
Plantic’s new high performance sheet grade — Plantic® HP1 — is a new development in biodegradable packaging. It enhances the existing functional properties of Plantic® R1 sheet, thereby creating a larger addressable market.
This new grade offers higher impact resistance and clarity, required for blister and clamshell packaging, where the products inside need to be showcased.
Examples of products which may require this type of packaging include Easter eggs, and consumer goods such as razors, toothbrushes, cosmetics and also electronic goods such as mobile phones, pen drives, hard drives and computer parts.
As part of Plantic’s recent alliance with DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers, which will see collaboration in the development and sale of renewably sourced polymers made from Plantic® technology, Plantic® HP1 will also be available via DuPont in the future.
Plantic® HP1 is made from a non-genetically modified renewable resource material, high amylose corn starch. Like Plantic® R1, it is also water dispersible, and has a renewable bio-content of approximately 85 percent.
Plantic’s CEO Brendan Morris says the high performance sheet grade is another material in the company's suite of sustainable, renewable and competitively priced alternatives to conventional plastics.
“Plantic® HP1 will provide our customers with another grade of material that can be used in high performance markets," Morris says.
"It allows our environmentally conscious customers to incorporate Plantic® technology into additional markets and applications, without sacrificing on function and performance.”
