Epson was awarded a prestigious WorldStar Award in the Electronics Category for its globally standardised and environmentally friendly packaging for printer ink cartridges.

The company’s business solutions manager, Craig Heckenberg, commented that its packaging system for large format ink cartridges was simplified two years ago as part of Epson's ongoing commitment to lessening its impact on the environment and reducing its carbon footprint.

The package design comprises 100% recycled paper boxes that are partially printed in monochrome.

Epson's standardised packaging also received an Electric Equipment Packaging Category Award at the Japan Packaging Contest 2007, sponsored by the Japan Packaging Institute.

The WorldStar Awards were sponsored by the World Packaging Organisation.
