DALSA Corporation a global leader in machine vision technology, has launched the BOA Smart Camera, a highly integrated IP 67 camera that comprises all of the elements of an industrial machine vision system.

Adept Electronic Solutions is the exclusive distributor for Dalsa iPD in Oceania.

Marc Fimeri the Managing Director of Adept says the BOA is a very exciting new product and complements the Dalsa iPD Vision Appliances by adding an even lower cost, yet powerful product for low-end applications.

Dalsa now with its BOA smart camera and Vision Appliances has a cost effective powerful solution for all applications - from simple to high performance.

”Firsts for the BOA include an all-in-one machine vision solution is smarter, easier to use, and more flexible than previous generations of smart cameras," Fimeri says.

"It is the first smart camera in its class to incorporate multiple processing engines. This enables algorithm optimisation using DSP, application management using CPU, and sensor management using FPGA.

"It is also the first smart camera that offers truly embedded application software, which is easily set-up through a standard web browser.

"There is no software to install and no version control problems," Fimeri adds.

More flexibility means lower costs

BOA delivers greater flexibility for its users via a rugged, easy-to-mount enclosure, built-in factory communications, and a low deployment cost.

Steve Geraghty, director of DALSA’s Industrial Products group says BOA sets a new benchmark for single point inspection cameras in the industry.

"It offers advanced vision capabilities that are easy to integrate at an affordable price, while consuming very little space and power,” Geraghty says.

Designed small and rugged

The ultra small BOA has been specifically designed for industry with its 44 mm cube form factor being perfect for tight-fit applications and is especially suited for food and pharmaceutical applications.

The IP67-rated housing means that the camera can be directly deployed in harsh, wash-down environments. This is particularly useful to meet cleanliness standards in the food and pharmaceutical industries, and eliminates the need for a separate, costly protective enclosure.

BOA’s small form factor and easy mounting capabilities allow it to integrate easily into existing production lines, machinery or moving equipment.Easy to useBuilding on the strength of its software, DALSA has evolved and embedded the complete functionality of iNspect software in BOA.

iNspect is ideal for both first time and experienced vision users alike; it offers excellent inspection capabilities that can be readily applied across a multitude of applications.

This easy-to-use, graphical point-and click-interface, allows users to prototype rapidly and deploy solutions, and it is available with a fully-featured emulator for offline application development and debugging.

The BOA vision system is available immediately in a monochrome version (model BVS-0640M). A colour version will be available later in the year.

Adept Electronic Solutions are "The Machine Vision and Imaging Specialists" and distributor of DALSA products in Australia and New Zealand.
